About AFC Our Mission

As part of God's historical work in the worldwide evangelical student movement, AFC, in partnership with local churches, is committed to establish, continue and propagate this mission among ethnic Chinese students in Canadian educational institutions. While AFC believes in the autonomy of student groups, we will provide leadership, guidance and training, promote and develop students in areas of evangelism, discipleship, leadership and world mission in order to prepare them to serve effectively in local churches, communities and the world.

Our Objective

Together with Christians from different churches, we are committed to a united evangelistic outreach among university and high school students on their campuses so as to carry out the great Commission, to preach the glorious message of Jesus Christ and the power of the gospel, and to build up the body of Christ.

Our Campus, Our Field

What kind of a place is the Campus? On the surface, it is a pressure-filled, fast-paced, youthful, energetic environment. Often it is the miniature and even the trend-setting microcosm of the society. But the campus is also a lost institution because the Christ-centered principles that was the founding vision of the university have been lost, and because so many young people pursuing higher education are so lost without Christ in their lives! Yes, the campus is a mission field, to which the Church send the largest corps of missionaries, the Christian students!

Our Students, Our Future

Not only is the campus a mission field, it is a strategic one. Student years are the best time to win people to Christ, when they are open to ideas, searching for meaning, and excited about life. It is also the vital period of time for a Christian to grow into maturity. Finally, the campus provides an excellent training ground of tomorrow's leaders -- learning to relate and co-work with people of different backgrounds, striving to integrate faith and learning, and be challenged to engage in evangelism and mission. Among the leaders of today's churches, many were the campus leaders in their generations. We must give our best for the next generation of leaders!

Our Past History

In the 60's and 70's many Chinese overseas students flocked into Canadian universities to study. The harvest was plentiful and workers were needed for His harvest field. The vision of an organization ministering to the spiritual needs of these Chinese students led to the founding of Ambassadors For Christ In Canada by Rev. Stephen Knights. In 1972, AFC was officially registered as a non-profit Christian organization with the government of Canada. In the 80's and 90's many Chinese families immigrated to Canada, the challenges of meeting the needs of the younger generation has not been less. In the 90's, a national student movement was initiated from the Western Canada, and AFC respond by sending staff to Vancouver, where an AFC Student Ministry was started. Under the guidance of our gracious Lord, the staff and the ministry of AFC have been expanding. The focus of AFC is still on student ministry.
