About AFC March Letter

Dear Friend of AFC,

Every time I write to you, my heart is always filled with joy and thankfulness. Your support of AFC ministry through prayer and offering has been a great encouragement to our staff team striving to serve God among the students!

I am writing to you now to invite you to participate in our AFC Banquet to be held on May 23, 1997. This is a very important event celebrating our 25th Anniversary for AFC, and it is also an excellent opportunity for the AFC Big Family, namely those who has a heart for student ministry, to gather together.

As shown on the invitation card, our theme is "Our Campus, Our Field; Our Students, Our Future", which reflects AFC's past 25 years of ministry in the campus and our commitment to develop students as future leaders. This banquet will be a good opportunity for us to count God's rich blessings in the past and to look forward to the great challenges of today's student ministry. Our speaker is Rev. Hay-Him Chan, the pioneering worker of student ministry in Hong Kong and former General Secretary of CCCOWE.

It is my deep desire that you could find time to celebrate with us that night! For details please contact Mrs. Anne Lee at AFC office (416)494-7171.

Enclosed please find flyers for two special events which are part of our 25th Anniversary celebration, I hope you and/or your beloved young people may participate in them.

  1. Inter-Generation Dialogue (April 5) -- This is designed specially for youth and parents, there will be skits, talks by experts, but the most unique feature will be the time for both young people and parents to talk their hearts out!
  2. Beyond McJobs (May 24) -- This is a conference on Career for the New Generation, with various professionals from across Canada, we will look at the trends, career decisions and challenges from Christian perspectives. There are a host of practical workshops too!
Enclosed please also find a flyer of the AFC Gospel Book House Annual Sales, hope you could take advantage of this and intake more spiritual literature!

Finally, please continue to remember AFC's ministry in your prayer: In addition to our university staff Gabriel Chan and High School staff Peter Lau, we have 6 interns from OTS/ OBC this semester, all of them are involved in reaching students in various campuses. Please pray for them. As for the major events: the Joint Campus Evangelistic Meeting in January was attended by 600 university students; while 35 graduates came to the Graduate Pathfinders Camp in February, and the responses were very encouraging; the annual Teens Conference during March Break has been full (capacity :800) weeks before the conference, with a significant number of non-Christians coming (one third of the Mandarin-speaking students are non-Christians), please pray for their salvation!

May you join us in striving for God's Kingdom, and become back bone for support of Campus ministry, so that a new generation of leaders may be produced!
