Thirst for Knowledge

Sitting in the classroom
Feeling rather hot
May I go and get a drink
No you may not!
You should have gone at breaktime
Whilst the water spring was free
Now you say you want a drink
Just before p.e.

Laying in the classroom
Fainting with the heat
De-hydrating. Sweating
Falling of my seat.
Get a nurse, get a doctor
Call a safety helicopter
Ring 999 get the ambulance crew
The cubs, the scouts, and
The brownies too.

Laying on the floor
Pleading for a drink
Please sir please sir
I can hardly think
Bring a glass, bring a cup
Whatever you bring {hurry up}
At long last my drink arrives
By the skin of my teeth
I am still alive.
