Morning has Broken

Ambient dreams enclosed in cosy fluffiness
under your bedclothed nook of rest.
Live out your other world of life until
at half past six, undressed, and pierced precisely,
your alarm clock shouts a smash. Obliterate,
The world awakes: a lorry reversed into your reverie.

Show down, arise, and blast warm water
in those sleepy eyes. Be suited now, with gel and aftershave
and in the bathroom mirror change: an image of the catalogue man.
Bowl of cornflakes down; a less-than-serious measure of the ironing board.
Come on, Be gone, in your Mondeo 1.8 and waveband tuned
to air the views of Radio One.
